It was a 10 armed, 10 light, hanging purple fancy chandie...

Hayley is on a role this week with the zingers.  The other day it was "Mom, all you do is decorate, cook, and clean."  Today she says, "Why do you never finish any of your projects?"  Burn.  So to Hayley....I finished one, nana nana boo boo, stick your head in doo doo. Yeah, I said it...I told my almost 7 year old to stick her head in doo doo.  Okay, not really, but I did, very maturally, stick my tongue out at her :)

Now to my flying purple people eater purple chandelier and mirrors!!
I picked up a brass chandelier at H4H (habitat for humanity) a few weeks back for $10.  They had a HUGE one that I wanted really really bad....but it was $70, and I wasn't willing to pay that for a hallway chandelier.

I picked up a 2 cans of Krylon purple spray paint and ended up with this fabulous chandelier!

Here's what it looked like before:
This is with a coat of primer---the camera ran out of batteries and I was too impatient to wait to start painting!
Then to finish (yes Hayley, I said finish)  the hallway I painted some mirrors we had with the rest of the purple spray paint and instant drama!

I was laying on my dining room floor to try to get all of it in this shot!

The top mirror is an interesting find.  It was actually at our house when we moved in.  It is a sun looking thing made out of old cans...yes old cans.  Like the longest pieces are from a baked beans can, then the next is from a green bean can and so on....  They look to have been cut with tin snips.  It was rusting and just hanging in the back room.  I had an idea to add a mirror from a compact to the center (the only cheap round mirror I could think of).  So, I carefully pried the mirror out and glued it in the center.  I had originally painted the can part with some bronze I already had, but when I started this I knew it was getting some purple!

Here are a few more pics of the whole shebang:

Thank you to my dad for hanging the purple chandelier and to my mom who painted the stairwell a billion years ago, and no I never put it on the blog...I dripped paint on the steps and finally just covered it the other day!!

Hootie and the paint job

I feel like I haven't blogged in for-ev-er... I have been getting a lot done, but I haven't had time to blog about it.  If I sit down to do anything it's to stalk everyone's blogs!!  I am going to start making my self get up at 7:30 and then I'll have some time to work and have some quiet time.  Mr. TSL and I have been staying up after the girls go to bed to watch Band of Brothers...which for a war mini series is surprisingly good.  Mainly because it's based on true events and people-I like things that happen(ed) for real!

Today, Hayley looked at me and said, "All you do is decorate, cook, and clean."  :)
I am working on the top of the stairs, the dining room and the living room trim currently... I am in LOVE with the white trim in the living room, so far I have done around all the windows and one of the doors (there are three.)  I'll show you some pics soon-hopefully-the reunion I'm hosting will be here, so it will be done by then!

A while back I picked up this cute little owl and gave him a paint job.

Her he is after his paint job makeover:

This was what he looked like before:

Getting Ready for a Family Reunion

Apparently, having the girls home from school is crazy busy and I don't have time to blog as much, so I will try to get up earlier or get posts in when I can! :)

After only getting together for funerals, Mr. TSL's family is finally getting together for a family reunion that won't be centered around a loss.  I am hosting this bad dog!  I L-O-V-E hosting parties/get-togethers/anything really!

My parents came over yesterday and we got a ton of work done outside.  See, when we bought the house it had sat vacant for 5 years with the exception of some lake trips (yep, we live by the lake-be jealous!).  The previous owners were an elderly couple that were put in a care home and their family basically left all the stuff around the house they didn't want/need.  This meant A LOT of trash for us!   They were also glorious gardeners....I love this, because I suck at gardening and anything that comes back on it's own without any care for 5 years can survive me!

We have taken numerous loads of stuff to the recycler and also to the dump to alleviate the amount of crap they left/we have.  However, there are a lot of trees, bushes, gardens and such that had dead parts or were completely dead that we have to burn.  We have a giant bonfire-style pile of brush that we are slowly burning :)

This is the before pics taken by the previous owner.  It actually had more trash when we bought it!

That is the before pic of the areas that we are working on...the after's are going to take a little longer.  It looks A-MAZ-ING right now, but there are more things before I do the big reveal!

After all that rambling, I have some inspiration pics for you and me!!
