Home Tour: Christmas Tree, Table, Mantle...sneak peek of new floor and kitchen

It's Christmas time in these parts and I hope to clean show you the rest of the Christmas decorations over the next week or so.  Plus, Mr. TSL and I (mainly me while he was at work) laid the floor in the kitchen and dining room over 3 days!  Pics of that in a sec.  We are hosting Christmas this year and I am super excited.  I almost alwasy do Thanksgiving and my sister in law does Christmas.  This year we switched!

I don't do "theme" stuff for Christmas.  Mainly because it would take entirely way too much planning on my part.  I often only buy Christmas stuff after Christmas, so I would essentially have to plan a year in advance. Not happening.  Plus, all the ornaments on our tree were mine and the mr's from childhood, or our kids picked them out.  We rock white and colored lights...I want white, mr and kids want colored lights. We hang both.  I am proud to say that other than picking up the brass candlesticks for the table ($10 for all of them on CL) I didn't buy anything for decorations!  I am planning to buy some napkins for dinner and maybe 3 disco balls to replace the silver ornaments on the table, but haven't done any of that yet.

As for now, here is our Christmas Dining Room tour.

Because we have so many stockings, we use a gold painted dowel rod hung with some Merry Christmas stocking holders.  This WILL NOT hold full stockings.  So, when Christmas comes Santa leaves the stockings filled on the floor!

I had been looking for a wool plaid blanket for a while to use as a tablecloth and had all but given up on finding one for cheap.  Then, I was helping my mom clean out some boxes and this was in one of them.  She told me to throw it away...I kept it.

and that completes our Chistmas dining room tour....now on to some kitchen progress, new chairs, and new rugs.....

The pics are taken in really low light and the cabinets are more of an inky dark gray.  The pics are spot on for the fingerprints on the dishwasher though!

Pic of the newi-sh (I've had it for a while and not blogged about it) runner on the stairs.

My new 8x10 Kilim Rug my friend was not diggin anymore, so we traded for a mirror I had from Hobby Lobby and a cake stand I hadn't used in forever!  I freakin' love it!  Thanks Erin! Plus, aren't those stools amazing....trash that Mr. TSL brought home for me.  He brought home 7 of them!  The Island is getting a makeover this weekend!

My new chairs I scored on Craigslist for $35 each.  The black one was originally bright yellow.  Couple coats of paint and the black is much better!  I originally thought they were Eames Chairs, but they are in fact vintage Krueger chairs and were advertised as "Fucky Little Chairs"  She meant funky, but now they are called fucky chairs.

Gray Hutch, Orange Chair

I bought a hutch a while back on Craigslist, I use it as a storage shed for all those stupid appliances for the kitchen and random other pantry stuff that doesn't fit so easily.
I have a before, but my 2 year old daughter is half naked and taking up 90% of the picture...no naked pics online of my kids!  So, imagine the same hutch, but orangey wood instead. Ummkay?!?

paint color: Dusty Mountain

I made the There's No Place Like Home art, it's just a frame and matte from the DAV, that I spray painted and an old map of Kansas with where we have lived as a family.  :)  I just wrote on it with a sharpie.
I bought this forever ago....like probably at least 6 months and I have since decided I want to swipe these fabulous lockers from my kick ass brother in law!  Thanks Jason! :)
So, it's for sale on the Wichita Craigslist for $60

Now onto another Craigslist score....this chair:

I saw it and offered the guy $15 for it....yep, $15!  You're all that orange chair is awful, aren't you?  You're so judgmental.  I knew it probably had modern sexy legs under that skirt and all I had to do was get her home and take her skirt off.  Wow, that sounds dirty...it was a little, well, er, more dusty than dirty!

For now, she's orange.....I'm thinking navy though!

The Macklemore Thrift Shop Challenge

I am taking The Macklemore Thrift Shop Challenge from Sherry and John over at YHL!!

Now I am bending the rules a wee bit,  I bought my stuff a few months back and photo shopped the $20 photo.  But it's totally legit, too legit to quit hey hey...you're singing it aren't you?!?! :)

Step #1-Take a picture of yourself with $20.

Step #2-Spend $20 and photograph your loot.

$14.99-Pair of Original Modern Dux Chairs-with the original tags still attached!!  I originally went to this tiny thrift store one town over because they had some ottomans on Craigslist for $8...when I got there the ottomans were gone.  But they had these chairs- they were marked $14.99, I thought that meant each, nope for both!  Then she loaded them in my car for me. (I was pg with Oliver at the time!)

$5 for an office chair that has an Eames-esque vibe.  The seat is torn all to crap, but I am going to recover it this weekend with some rag rugs I have!  I picked this up at the Habitat for Humanity :)

Step #3- find something from the song
(again...this is a stretch sort of)
Morgan and Hayley is pink feetie jammies!

new dining chairs....oh my ;)

I am giddy like a school girl over my new chairs!!

I bought them from Overstock.com here.  They are glorious!  I. Am. In. Love. If I weren't already married, I would marry these chairs.   (love you honey!)

I will take a pic of them in my dining room sometime this week.  Right now I am in the middle of redoing an armoire in there and it's a freaking mess.  :)

PROJECT FAT ASS UPDATE:
I lost me 7.5 lbs last week!!
I was going to start 30 Day Shred today, but alas we are rocking a sick family these days!

10 Gray/Grey Dining Chairs

They are done!  My dining chairs are finally done!

I totally like them!  If they were Tolix chairs, I would love them!!

Two of them were from my mom, they looked like this;

Then I redid them and they looked like this:

Then I picked up 8 of these at Habitat 4 Humanity:

I paid $2 per chair during memorial day weekend....yes, I have had them since the beginning of summer. Don't judge!  Anywho...I was going to make them green. Fail.

One more pic for the after:

Total Cost:
$16-chairs from H4H
$10-wasted green spray paint
$24-8 cans of gray spray paint
$10-drop cloth to cover the seats

Total-$60ish....I don't have the receipts.

I have been a chair finishing fool lately.
