Lots of stuff going on around my house!

So, the other day....a few weeks back I was cleaning the bathroom and decided it needed to be painted white.  So after I cleaned the toilet, I put on paint clothes.  It's all painted, but not restyled yet, so I'll show you soon.

I also am pushing for the kitchen to get started.  I have begun hoarding things for the redo and have been doing the simple things I already can do, just to start the ball rolling.  The cabinets would be mid-paint job, but we are throwing Audrey and Oliver's combo birthday party on Saturday.  And I didn't want to be like, hey family come over....no don't sit there that's where the cabinet doors are drying, no not there either, that's the prep area. ugh.  So, I will wait until the beginning of October to paint it all.

I scored this set from Craiglist:

The long dresser will hold the TV, the short dresser is Audrey's, the mirror and the headboard I haven't decided on yet.

Plus on Saturday I get a new couch!!  I am so excited! Like ridiculously excited!!

I am currently obsessed with this space:

and this kitchen is what I am going for in mine:

sometimes my brain wants to explode....

We are creeping up on living here for 3 years.  I can't believe we have been here 3 years.  In this time, I have done a lot to our house...no room is complete, like I want it to be.  I'm getting there.  This is also the last year I will be staying home, next fall I'm back to playing teacher.  Whilst I am looking forward to 2 incomes again, I will miss being home to see my babies all day long.

Tonight and tomorrow I will be cleaning to take pictures of before and afters so fars.  Mainly because tomorrow is Mr. TSL's birthday and we have his family coming over to bbq.  I'll write the story of how we got our house soon....it's a doozy!

I have redone both bathrooms and already have better ideas to improve them.  I am not going to start it until spring, because I have decided to do the kitchen first.

My brain is exploding over excitement for the kitchen island....

black cabinets and planks

I am going to make a live edge counter top and have it held up with custom hairpin legs!

I am hoping in the next 2 weeks to start the island!

Over the summer I hope to finish Oliver's room.  It needs repainted and I'm starting with the ceiling.  Which I am super excited to paint, I compare it to having my nails pulled out.  Woohoo.

thrift store score: giant lantern

sometimes when you go to a thrift store or the g-dub (goodwill) you find nothing.  other times you score big, like when i scored these chairs.

this is a score story.  i sold some crap off craigslist and was meeting the lady to deliver it and also had 6 trash bags of donate.  yes, i said 6 and no that isn't even half of what needed to go....that's all i had room for in the car.  anywho, the g-dub i usually go to was way across town so i stopped by a salvation army and dumped my stuff there.  i wasn't going to go in, but audrey and oliver were being good, so in we went.  i was walking around, got some random goodies.  i always go through the toys, baby clothes, picture frames and household stuff.

i walk by the furniture, some decent, nothing saying "kari take me home, stick me in your garage and pretend you have the time to redo me!"  then i saw it over by the lamps....a huge freaking lantern.

it's 30 inches tall and 17 inches wide!!  i swear it weighs like 15 pounds!
it's going to be red and hang over my kitchen island.  i hope to have it done in a week or so!

now some inspiring lantern pictures.....

do you ever have design ADD?

this is like the major dilemma in my brain at most time.  it ranks up there with what to do with my hair...i have a big butt, so i feel that my hair makes up for that in sex appeal.

i love love the beach.  so i will get a bunch of beachy stuff....then it feels to theme-y (might have made that word up)  then i see someone else's space and think omg, i love that too!

then my brain starts over.  i also have a tendency to start a project in each room, sometimes  i complete it sometimes not so much.  then i feel like nothing is done because nothing is completely done.

the mr, has a job interview tomorrow, so we will be finding out if we are moving or not.  we wouldn't be moving for a while, but that kind of knocks the wind from my sails in plans of crap to do to this place if we won't live here for much longer.  that last sentence sounds weird, but i'm leaving it-it's my blog i can do that!

i have these ideas of crap i want to do and i need like 5 houses to do all of them.  i don't want to redo my dining room every 3 months.  some people have no idea what to do with their house....i have too many ideas of crap and not enough help to execute them all.  i could hire people to help me, but that would cost money.

i am trying to decide between red or kelly green for an accent color.  i am more of a whole house accent color, minus the kid's rooms.  i feel like it makes my house feel cohesive.  i can add different elements that add a pop here or there, but for the most part i am having trouble picking a palette.

KELLY GREEN OPTIONS

love the kelly green and yellow container!

i found these chairs on craigslist for $150, but i think i could get them for $100.....not quite sure what to do!

RED ACCENTS

do you have these decorating problems or do you just go with it?  red or kelly green/yellow....maybe i could pull off a little of all three?!?!  some of the pics have a lot of all three!
