Girls' Collage Wall Mock-Up

I have been known to put quite a few holes in walls and later re-patch them.  That's what I have to do after I put the window headboards and mirror up.  That, ultimately, was more for Crafting with the Stars than what the girls really wanted. Their bedroom is very large and the are getting bunkbeds soon, so I will have this huge blank wall to do something with.

I had 2 packs of ugly wall dots, one pack I transformed to be gold dots with a little spray paint.  The girls looked at them on the paper still and told me they didn't like gold.  I was shocked.  Then when they went with me to Jess's house and saw how awesome they looked they loved them!

So, the other pack is getting sprayed gold soon and put up on their wall. (they wanted them to go on their ceiling, but alas we have disgusting popcorn ceilings that I am not removing due to the fact that we live here and I am not freaking cleaning that crap up!)  see what I plan to do with the popcorn ceilings here.

I mocked up a little wall example in Paint (I don't have photo shop, hell I've never even used it!)

the sources for the mock art on the pic above can be found here

Now to patch the previous holes, prime and paint them. UGH.

Old Window Headboard

Sadly, this is my last entry for Crafting with the Stars. :(  Bummer...but, I still lurve the project!!

I struggled this week....like, a lot! I was going to paint some fabric and that didn't go as planned...I don't sew. My sewing machine is basically a giant paper weight, so I needed to be a little more creative. So, I made my daughters some headboards and painted them some curtains!!

I painted the striped curtains with hot pink paint and a white twin top sheet from Wal-Mart. After I painted the striped curtains, I painted the old window frames I picked up at a flea market for $10 each. They started red and I painted them white originally.  I used them in our bedroom as the headboard.

I'm thinking of making a tufted or different headboard for the master bedroom now!

For this, I switched it up to a much more girly pink! I planned to paint a multi-colored chevron to use for the headboards...epic fail.

My inspiration for this project was this amazing set from PB Teen:

I may have had a mild nervous break down.

After I decided it wasn't the end of the world, I headed to Joann's for some fabric. While I am perusing, but what to my wondering eye should appear, but a perfect striped chevron and eight tiny reindeer. Seriously, they already had their Christmas crap out! I passed on the reindeer and picked up the fabric and a few more fun ones for pillows! For the headboard, I just stapled the Chevron fabric to the back of the old windows and screwed them to the wall. I took the lazy way out on the pillows...heatbond tape. It's my guilty pleasure...no sewing just my trusty iron. The iron only gets used for heat bond and to iron on Girl Scout patches....I do not iron our clothes. Oh, no my secrets out :) The girl's love their new room and I couldn't be more pleased and I only had one mildly neurotic episode!!

We're not quite done with their room...I'm thinking they need this piece of art work and a few more ideas I pinned from pinterest!

I'm thinking it would be easy to add these to a pre-made white quilt or comforter!
Mama may not sew, but she can modify!

Bunk Bed Love

I have the whole kitchen floor and dining room floor painted!  I will hopefully be finishing the painted rug this week and be able to post about it next week.  I realized about 1/3 way through the dining room I was going to run out of paint, so I worked around the edges so I could just switch to paint I had on hand to finish the rug in the middle.

It looks like 900 times better than it did before...I LOVE IT!!!

Pics to come later!

The girls and I were looking through design books--yes I recruit them for their opinions on the house :)
When they asked if they could have bunk beds.  I have been really apprehensive about all the fighting this would cause and also about them getting hurt.  But since they are 8 1/2 and 7 I think they will be okay.  When I asked who would sleep on the top, they both said Morgan.  So no fight there.  Now I am on the lookout for some on CL.  My nephews are getting new bunk beds maybe I can makeover their old one's for the girls!

Here are some pics to inspire me and you!!
