Splash of Red and a Visit from a Turtle :)

Original title for the post: Splash of red and a little visitor.....then I reread it in my head and it sounded like I was announcing getting my monthly friend!  Gross.

After the remodel of the front bathroomI recently decided that it needed some color and red it was!  I picked up 3 red towels from  Target...they are super soft and bright fire engine red.  However, they suck because the leave red lint all over you when you get out of the shower.  Even after being washed like 10 times!!

I also picked up some vintage badminton rackets at the GeeDub (Goodwill) for 99 cents each, they have the perfect chippy red paint on them and found  home in the potty as well!

Then I switched up some art and added this:

The rug before:

I know the green floor in the kitchen is looking a little shabby and not in a shabby chic way :(
The rug after a little painters tape and some paint!

I am totally in love with the mini transformation of this bathroom, while the master bath gets a huge transformation.  Here is the latest pic of the floor...it's ready for tile tonight!

Now for the visit from the turtle..... we are turtle savers here.  We stop our vehicle on the side of the road and always help the turtle to the side of the road he was pointing.  Yes, I have gotten peed on doing this and no, it's not always safe, but we love turtles!  I would have a bumper sticker that said, "I brake for Turtles!"  if I didn't think bumper stickers were grotesque.

So, on the last day of school for the girls we were pleasantly surprised to get a visit from this guy on our porch.  Before I could grab the camera he was trying to hide with our concrete turtle Myrtle.

Updated Children's Art Gallery

I rearranged some of the girls art and added some from this school year.  I rehung it at the top of the stairs and up the wall in the stairwell.   I actually had most of the wall done like a week ago, but some of the thrift store frames still had price tags on them and had to be painted black.

Hey, I've been distracted with the bathroom.  :)

Meanwhile in the bathroom:  the floor is being prepped for slate tile!

and my dining room looks like this...........seriously.

well the sink and top are gone now, but I have to refinish the vanity....
maybe I'll start that tonight!  maybe.

Master Bathroom: Part 1 Demo

I have been working like a mad woman trying to get stuff done when Audrey is sleeping during a nap and when the girls all go to bed.  Her nap is usually around 2 hours and the girls go to bed at 8:30.  Yes, I make my children go to bed before 9 in the summer....it's good for them and it gives Mr. TSL and I some quiet time before we go to bed!!

Anywho, we have a few major projects for this summer.  We are putting down wood flooring in the living and dining room and redoing our Master Bathroom.  Which was straight out of the 80's.  Linoleum floor, golden oak vanity, frame-less builder grade mirror....boring!!

Here is a shot before we moved in:

Now time for some demo:

The best part of this is that the bathroom will be so fantastic when we're done....the worst part, waddling my 6 1/2 month pregnant butt up to the front bathroom to tinkle in the middle of the night!

I didn't get all of the art moved from the dining room yet, I have to paint a bunch of frames and I'll be finishing that up this week too!

I'll keep you updated!!

Gettin' to it!

Today is the first day of summer for me!!  I am done babysitting for the summer!  Which means I can get after some projects I have been planning!

Today, I will move the kids art gallery wall up to the top of the stairs.  hopefully, I can get all this done before Audrey goes down for a nap this afternoon....so I'll show you later.

Here is what the wall looked like in the dining room:
Our dining room is extremely narrow, so the pictures get bumped a lot!  Good thing they are movin'!

And up the stairs before:

However, the girls brought in a whole slew of new artwork!  So, we have outgrown the space!
