No Ikea, No PB, No West Elm......

All of these and more.  We have no Homegoods, no Ikea, no Pottery Barn, no West Elm..... these things make me sad.  Especially the Ikea one!  They don't always ship the stuff I want and I don't want to drive to another state to pick it up!  It would be different if it were just a few hours, but it's not!!  Stupid Wichita!

HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO GET BY WITH OUT THESE STORES!?!?!?!

You see sometimes I am an impulse buyer.  I have tried to deter this habit.  I now will pick things up, put them in my cart and then put them back later....I want to impulse buy from these stores though and it's so much easier to swipe your debit card than it is to type in the number, the expiration date....by then I have canceled it and the impulse is gone.  boo.

Still working on the living room.....and getting ready to do the back bathroom!

The Sunset Lane's Living Room Board

The Sunset Lane's Living Room Board

Today for some reason Pinterest won't let me waist my time....so I found Polyvore!  Suck it Pinterest....I take that back, please don't be mad at me Pinterest.  I'm sorry.

I did make this today though!  No I don't plan to spend that much on my living room, but I am going to try to find more affordable versions of everything on there!!

white deer head

I have been lusting after faux deer heads/antlers since Mr. TSL drilled a huge deer with my Durango.  The best part was that he was lecturing me on watching for deer during rutting season and bam!  He KO'd that Mother H!

Anywho, I am all about the cabin look, but the real deer heads and the one's painted to look real totally give me the creeps!  Then I saw the nursery the Katie Bower designed and was in love!!

She bought hers off ebay and sprayed that booger white!!!  LOVE!

So, I bought mine from ebay and he looked like this in the ad!

I sprayed mine with primer and white semi gloss spray paint and hung him over the piano.  Not sure if that's where he'll stay, but I like him a whole lot!  My mom says it's creepy :)

I love the deer head, but I think it needs to stand out a little more.  Once I get the entryway done, some of those decorations will go live there and also to the bookshelf in the corner when it gets done.

I am thinking of something like this on top of the piano:

When the new flooring goes down (maybe I'll learn to take better pictures) it will be much nicer than the crappy carpet.  I still hate the golden oak piano....which I'm not sure what to do about it.  I don't want to paint it...mainly because I'm not excited to have to paint it.  Maybe, I'll suck it up and just do it!

I'd like to thank the academy!

My fabulous IRL{in-real-life} friend and fellow blogger, Jessica over at It's Jess presented me with a Beautiful Blogger Award!

I might be a little big-headed about this...hey, I had baby shit smeared up my arm earlier....give me a break!  At least I didn't jump up and break the light fixture in the living room like a total douche bag...like I did when I got on Crafting with the Stars!!  Read about that here.

The Beautiful Blogger Award is for those blogs that are creative, original, and add to the blogging community. You are supposed to bestow it on seven people.

The rules:
Link to the creative, beautiful genius that bestowed it upon you.
List seven random things about yourself.
Send said award to seven (or however many you want) other creative beautiful geniuses.
Tell those lucky people that you've done this and give them the rules.

Seven random things about me........

1.  I think the most random things are freakin' hilarious....like pee my pants funny.  I love watching America's Funniest Home Videos....it's totally my jam!  Plus, my laugh is obnoxiously loud. I was literally crying from this:

and also from this:

2.  My favorite movie is Uncle Buck and almost every weekend I make "He's cooking our garbage" for breakfast.  Macaulay Culkin walks down to the kitchen looks at John Candy and whispers to his sister "He's cooking our garbage."   It's basically cubed hashbrowns with onions, topped with sausage or bacon, eggs, and cheese.  The kids and I put ketchup on ours and Mr. TSL rocks his with some salsa.  Yes, my children eat this!

favorite lines from the movie:
"I don't want to stay with them, their dog's a ball sniffer."
"Honey, don't say balls."
"What's another word for balls?.....Nuts!"

"Here's a quarter, go downtown and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face."

3.  I know all the words to the songs in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers......"bless your beautiful hide, wherever you may be.  We ain't met yet, but I'm a willin' to bet, you're the gal for me....."  and I sing all of them while the movie is playing.

4.  I still want to use to want to be a country music singer.

5.   I believe with my whole heart and soul that actions speak louder than words.

6.  I can touch my tongue to my nose...I know you're jealous!

7.  I am obsessed with plucking my eyebrows.... like my mom took my tweezers away from me at cheerleading camp and then convinced all my girlfriends not to give me theirs....I must say I am glad she did this, they grew back and were better looking, but I needed them to be groomed a little more than they were!!  I still, to this day, pluck my eyebrows everyday!

Thanks again, Jessica!!!  As soon as summer starts, Jess and I are going on a play date to some thrift stores and hopefully lunch and a movie!!  :)

mama needs some opinions....

So, I am working on knocking some stuff off my living room list.  This week I am working on the entry way.

It usually looks like this....on an organized day.  Of course, I have changed the artwork due to my decorating ADD.  I have at least completed painting the trim white :)

This was a huge upgrade from what the house originally looked like when we moved in and the piles of crap/junk that made it look completely unorganized.  I have since decided that this is too unorganized for me and that since we have a large closet in the living room, all of these lovely things can be hidden stored in said closet!

Mommy needs a more grown-up entryway.  :)

Mr. TSL has this super old dresser that he grew up with and his mom redid and I'm sure it was nice until he got a hold of it.  It's a giant eyesore now.  But, I can fix it!! :)  He decided to bumper sticker it.  I loathe bumper stickers.  It's not that I don't laugh at a good one, but overall I just despise them.  They don't look good on furniture either.

It looked like this before:

My original plan was to paint the shell of it gray/grey and stain the drawers dark wood.  Something like this:

this will be the color of our new floor too! :)  It's not in yet...boo :(

Then, I saw this from East Coast Creative formerly The Real housewives of Bucks County:

And I am thinking it would look great all gray/grey sort of like this, but with the drawers missing like the one above:

HELP ME!!!!

See our living room is laid out like this:

Long Post: Living Room List, Green Curtains, New Lamp

So, I have decided to do one room at a time....which is extremely difficult for me because I have decorating ADD.  However, I get extremely irritated and feel like nothing is getting done when I have done a ton of stuff.  It's just all spread out because it's little projects all over my house.

Mandi over at Vintage Revivals has been doing an FFA challenge and I am joining!!

I choose the Living Room first!!  It's the first room everyone sees and no one gives a crap if my clothes are on my bedroom floor if my Living Room kicks butt!

Living Room List
1.  Rip up the nasty brown marble carpet.  I have desired to do this since the day we walked in.  I have actually cleaned it 3 times with a carpet cleaner and it doesn't make that "1987" look go away.  Bummer.

2.  Replace the carpet with the new wood floor.  It's currently in the garage and sometimes I go out there and sit on the boxes of flooring and lust after it!

3. Tile the entry way.  Not sure if I want to do this or not.  We could just wood floor all the way, but I am worried it would get worn too quickly.  The front door is our main entry and the carpet looks like 10 times worse than the rest...which looks terrible itself.  It will be the same color as the wood and the grout will match the tile, so I'm thinking it would be an okay transition.

4.  Move coat and shoe storage to the closet.  I am super sick of looking at it and Audrey has entered the "I want to wear everyone's shoes stage.  So, there is a constant mess of shoes all over.

5.  Replace the coat/shoe area with a pretty entry way dresser and mirror for storage!

6.  Redo the dresser for the entry way.

7.  Paint and hang the shelves for the corner nook that will be a mock bookshelf.

8.  Make large lyric music for over the desk.  I am over the license plates.

9.  Make art for near the window.

10.  Get a mirror for over the dresser.

11.  Put a finishing detail ribbon on the lamp shades.

12.  Get fur pillows for the couch and maybe a fun pattern.

13.  Paint dip the piano legs.

Now we've seen what I need to do....let's see what I have gotten done!!

First on the list, my new drop cloth green curtains:

Please note the inspiration for the style of hanging my new curtains came from Michael over at Inspired By Charm.  He is amazing!!  It's in one of his guest rooms in the little Bed and Breakfast he has out in Pennsylvania.  If I ever make it out to his neck of the woods, I am totally visiting!!

Before with the black and white curtains:

Please note that while I loved the black and white curtains, they were painted top sheets from Wal-Mart.  I painted them with regular house paint.  They looked awesome, but felt like a painted canvas.  They eventually got really dust and I was unable to launder them so buh-bye black and whites.  :(

But, hello green beauties!

I used a drop cloth cut in half vertically and Rit Dye in Kelly green, it actually took 2 bottles, because I didn't get the color I wanted first time....{this may have been for my lack of direction reading, but whatevs}

Drop cloth: $9ish at Wal-Mart and the Rit Dye were $2.50 each.  New curtains for the living room around $15.  Not bad, not bad at all.  Plus these can be washed, not that I will ever actually do that!

I do need to sew the edge I cut, but I don't care because I just tucked it under!

Now on to the lamps:

I found both of these for $5.95 each at the GeeDub (Goodwill).

I had to have them, I was planning on doing this to them:
This lamp is $248 at LaylaGrace.com.  I was going to use the looking glass spray paint from Krylon...I couldn't find it at 3 stores, so I went with gray.  :)

I also covered the shade in burlap, because I am too cheap to buy new shades :)

Please note that the weird bump out in my living room went from this:

To this:

Yep, that's right folks!  You can call me Fertile Myrtle.  We are expecting baby number 4 in September!
I am 21 weeks this Wednesday and found out that the last of our brood is a dude :)  I do not claim to have made up this funny....that was all Mr. TSL!
