Master Bath: Complete!!!

So, we finished the bathroom a while ago and I suck at keeping up with writing and taking pics of my stuff :)

Not sure why the toilet and sink look cream color...they are totally white :)
My old photo editing program bit it and I am taking pics straight from the camera...and I am a sucky photographer :)

The top art I made.  The bottom art is from Etsy from Kari Egan @Pop Doggie

The shower curtain is a chevron/herringbone top sheet from a set of sheets I picked up at Target.
I just fold over the sheet and attach it with curtain clips that I have attached to the shower curtain rings.  Yes, you can see the shower liner, no I do not care.  Eventually, I will sew some button holes or use some grommets.  Until then this totally works for me :)

Made this art too, it says
Loved you yesterday,
Love you still,
Always have &
Always will.

I know, I am so romantic it's gag inducing!! :)

There it is, my beautiful butcher block counter top!!
It's fabulous and DIY, maybe more HYHMIWTAOAS
That is have your husband make it with the assistance of a student :)
If you are reading this student-- I will not put your name on the internet, but thank you Shmaylor Bermuda :)

The art on this wall is burlap in a frame that has a penny with the year each of us was born :)

  3. Hi Jenny,

How did you seal the butcher block? I am planning on a new countertop in our bath and have some butcher block I was thinking of using - but just wanted to see what you used. Your total transformation is wonderful and I really like your wonderful art projects! They add such personality to your space.

    Thanks!

  7. I saw a couple other requests for this, but no response. Could you let us know how you sealed the butcher block? How is it working out?

    1. I sealed it with mineral oil. It was all fine, but when we went to install the sink we didn't mineral oil the edge of the hole we cut for the sink. Then when we caulked around the sink the caulk went into the oak top making it black around the sink. I thought this was super disgusting and it pissed me off really bad. After oiling it every couple weeks I quit oiling it and dried it out a bit. After it was dried, I lightly sanded it and stained the top (which we did not do when we installed it, we just left in natural). I have since sealed it with a waterproof clear coat and it has held up great! I do not recommend oiling it in the bathroom mainly because of the moisture. I realized too, after it was too late that if you left anything metal on the counter it would leave a mark. So we have a ring from where the scrubbing bubbles for the tub sat while I was cleaning and also where a few bobby pins sat on the counter. The staining and resealing it pretty much disguised the marks from that stuff though. Over all I am happy with the counter!
